In 2018, I had the opportunity to build my own dream home with my dad. As an owner/builder I took on many roles including: architectural designer, contractor, concrete-worker, framer, and finish worker.
Between bending rebar and framing walls, I was also able to work alongside city inspectors and subcontractors including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, insulation, drywall, and roofing. Watching their work taught me lessons about the little elements that need to come together to form the whole design. I was more observant to the elements that may look good on paper but don't actually work in practice.
When I was not on the construction site, I was comparing the best mortgages, managing bids, shopping for and ordering supplies such as lumber, lighting fixtures, windows, doors, etc. Lets just say that I have a pretty good idea of what things cost.
Being involved in all phases of construction has helped me implement practical and cost saving design practices. It was one of the greatest professional development experiences. Let me pass this knowledge on to you as we design your dream home.
It all started way back in high school when I would help my dad build our personal homes. The house plans my dad followed were so interesting to me that I decided to take an AutoCAD class. Not too long later, my dad introduced me to the designer of his plans and I was hired as an apprentice. I fell in love with architectural design and decided to further my education by attending Dixie State University. All of the knowledge I had gained on the construction site, from apprenticeships, and through college led me to start my own business: Dream Home Design.
Through the years, I have designed house plans ranging in size from 400 to 18,000 sq. ft. I have also had the opportunity to broaden my skill-set by working with contractors, collaborating with other prominent local architectural designers, and by building my own home.

We call him the cyborg. Literally a man made out of steel that can do just about anything! His brute strength is astonishing. And his construction experience is unmatched! He has hands-on experience with every aspect of a home build. His greatest feat to date is his personal cabin where he mastered every trade to get the job done!
Kirk has over 20 years of hands-on experience including:
Kirk and Sheri have always loved the idea of a cabin in the beautiful village of Duck Creek. The cool air, the mountainous view, and the tranquil surroundings. Kirk had the opportunity to learn every trade building his dream cabin. Every wall, every cabinet, and every detail were infused with his heart and soul, creating a warm and welcoming haven. We've laughed by the fire, stargazed on the porch, and grown as a family here.
Throughout his life, a few things Kirk has always strived to teach his children is honesty and the value of hard work. Over the years, Kirk has personally built multiple homes for himself and for his 3 children: 2 boys and 1 girl. He has trained and included them in the process of each of the builds. Including every step of framing! Krystal being the girl was treated no different - it was show up, work hard, and be honest. All of his life, he has been the type of guy that will take his shirt off his back and give it to those in need.
From 800 Square Feet to 18,000 Square Feet, Kirk has experience in building a wide range of custom homes. Modern, craftsmen, Mediterranean, French country, chateau, cabin, you name it!
